My Twin Aunts
I had the good fortune of calling these two wonderful
ladies my Aunts. As children, my brother and I looked
at them as Aunts. But they were always more than that.
And as we grew older, things changed, they became more
like the older sisters we never had.
I was recently married on May 30th. About a month earlier,
the girls threw Beth and I a shower at Olympia Fields
Country Club.
Those of you who know the girls can imagine how meticulously
planned and perfect that event was. However, May 30th,
our wedding day, was the last day I saw my Aunts.
I could not imagine a better last day with them. The
whole family was on hand, laughing, smiling, and dancing
the night away. I remember they wore the same kind of
hat to our ceremony, except Aunt Sally wore black, and
Aunt Gigi wore white. I made a joke about them being
twins. This was the last thing I remember saying to
them...other than goodbye, perhaps, at the end of the
reception. But how fitting. They were as close to being
twins as two sisters could be. They may not have entered
the world together, but they did leave it hand in hand
I am sure. They were two of the most special ladies
in my life and I will miss them forever. Our loss is
heavens gain.
